This seems to be a question that garners quite a bit of attention. I have to wonder why this simple question can cause so much controversy. Modern Christianity holds fast to many doctrines of their faith with much less scriptural proof than our imperative to follow our Apostle Paul. Paul penned 13 books of the New Testament and yet people still shudder at the thought of giving Paul the credence scripture directs us to. Jesus tells us clearly that he was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel and Christianity gladly ignores this verse and other clear teaching to diminish the ministry given to Paul.
But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God Acts 20:24
The simple answer is, Jesus sent Paul to you. Jesus called Paul from heaven and gave him a special revelation to carry to the gentiles of the gospel of the grace of God.
That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost Romans 15:16
In contrast to: Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers Romans 15:8
Paul wrote 13 books packed with doctrine for the Body of Christ to live by in this dispensation and yet denominational Christianity still can’t live with the idea of following Paul. We find the truth of salvation by grace alone only in Paul’s epistles.
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Titus 3:5
To follow Jesus today requires that you follow Paul.
And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee Acts 26:15-17
The liberty that is found by being in Christ is only realized by following Paul. The clarity of the Bible’s revelation to us is only seen by following the one person the mystery was revealed to.
For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel: Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power. Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: Ephesians 3:1-11
You can only know the will of God in this dispensation by following Paul, because it was only given to Paul to know Gods will for this time.
And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth. For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard Acts 22:14-15
Following Paul in no way diminishes our Savior Jesus Christ. According to scripture, Jesus must be preached "according to the revelation of the mystery"
Now to him that is of power to stablish you according my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the word began, Romans 16:25
Sadly, most have no understanding of this mystery that scripture has so much to say about.
If you just read the things I have said without reading the verses you have just missed the whole point. Dispensational teaching does not rely on scholars, commentators, church traditions and Greek experts. Right division gets its principles directly from scripture alone, free from the constraints of a statement of faith or church creed. I would challenge you to search for yourself and see if scripture demands that you follow Paul today.
